Aldi saw its market share slide in the last quarter, while Lidl, M&S and Ocado snapped up its losses, industry data revealed. In the three months to April 20, 2024, Aldi saw its portion of the industry slip backwards from 10.8% in 2023 to 10.4%, NIQ data showed.

Online supermarket Ocado , discounter Lidl and upmarket food seller Marks & Spencer were Britain's fastest growing grocers over the last quarter, industry data showed on Thursday.

Ocado Group PLC (LSE:OCDO) boss Tim Steiner could receive a bonus of up to £15 million after his pay package was approved by shareholders despite having faced intense scrutiny from critics. Steiner received the majority vote required to approve his pay for the year at Ocado's annual general meeting on Monday, however, a fifth of shareholders opposed the retail boss.

Some 19% of votes cast at Ocado's annual shareholder meeting on Monday opposed the online grocer and technology group's proposed new pay policy that could see boss Tim Steiner pick up a bonus share award of up to 15 million pounds ($18.82 million).

Analysis of the supermarket sector's till rolls for the past 12 weeks showed Ocado Retail improving sales by 12.5%, well ahead of the total online market which grew by 6.8%.

After Ocado Group PLC (LSE:OCDO) was the latest name to be bandied around as a potential defector from London to New York in search of a better valuation, it was suggested that the company has an alternative route to enable investors to see it as a tech company rather than just a wannabe.  A newspaper report at the weekend suggests one or two shareholders have told bosses that they should seriously think about switching listing venue across the pond to achieve a higher valuation.

Ocado Group PLC (LSE:OCDO) is the latest British company to come under pressure to move its share listing from London to New York. According to weekend reports in the Sunday Telegraph, one of Ocado's top shareholders, an undisclosed “leading fund manager”, asked Ocado's board to properly explore the idea.

Ocado (LON: OCDO) share price continued its strong sell-off this week as concerns about its growth prospects continued. The stock tumbled to a low of 385p, much lower than its peak of 2,914p in September 2020.
